Other online careers information

The Lantra Careers website is a very powerful tool for setting your priorities. But it is not the only source of information relevant to our sector. In terms of finding an actual job rather than just a placement there are a number of other resources that you could consult, including trade papers and magazines such as Horticulture Week and Farmers Weekly.

There are also several other websites that you could visit.

These include:

1. Farmers Weekly Interactive

This site has a useful job search section plus a Careers Advice area offering tips on topics like ‘job interviews’ and ‘career development’. You can also use the site to help develop a CV that will then be visible to recruiters. Click here to open the site.

2. Grow your own career in horticulture

This site is sponsored by a number of key organisations including English Heritage; Horticulture Week; The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; the RHS and several leading land-based colleges. Again you can search for jobs and upload your CV. There is also a section offering careers advice. Click here to open the site.

3. Countryside Jobs Service (CJS)

This privately run specialist site includes regularly updated links to job vacancies and again there is a facility for posting your CV. Click here to open the site.

4. Apprenticeships – opening doors to a better future.

This website, run by the National Apprenticeship Service, has a useful facility for finding Apprenticeship vacancies. Just click on the ‘Search for Vacancies’ button. Click here to open the site.
